Job Details:

  • Days: 5 days per week
  • Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 per year
  • Additional Benefits: After 1 year of employment, 2 weeks paid vacation, 5 paid personal days, and 1 week’s salary as an end-of-year bonus. Cottage provided with all paid utilities.

A prestigious UHNW (Ultra-High Net Worth) family in Connecticut seeks an experienced Caretaker/Landscaper to oversee all aspects of their estate. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter with full English fluency, dedicated to maintaining the property to the highest standards. The client is looking for someone knowledgeable, has prior experience maintaining the interior and exterior of a large home, is proactive, has great communication skills, and can operate machines and take them for service if needed. The summer will be very busy when the family is there. The winters will be maintaining the home.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrating baseline plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills.
  • Creating and submitting a monthly expense report.
  • Maintaining both the interior and exterior of the estate, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proactively identifying and addressing any maintenance or landscaping needs.
  • Operating and maintaining various machines and equipment, arranging for service when necessary.
  • Handling landscaping duties such as sodding, mulching, edging, pruning, and tree trimming.
  • Conducting spring, autumn, and exterior cleanups, including snow removal and maintenance.
  • Setting up and breaking down seasonal holiday displays.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance, including light bulb and filter changes.
  • Ensuring exterior walkways are clean and hazard-free.
  • Maintaining all tools and equipment and disposing of trash/garbage according to schedule.
  • Accepting deliveries of heavy boxes and inspecting the home and estate daily for repair or replacement needs.
  • Conducting general cleaning of exterior areas, outdoor furniture, and equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in maintaining large homes or estates.
  • Knowledgeable about landscaping and general property maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to take proactive measures to ensure property upkeep.
  • Ability to operate machinery and perform basic repairs as needed.
  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy items, frequently up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
